Application of wireless safety monitoring system in gas monitoring of coal preparation plants

Abstract: In order to reduce or avoid gas explosion accidents in coal preparation plants and solve the problems of low intelligence of its safety monitoring system and inability to accurately determine mass volume concentration of gas, WSN was introduced, framework of the monitoring system and its functional units were designed, and its application performance was analyzed and verified. Then, application value of WSN in intelligent safety monitoring of such plants was analyzed. During the systems operation, information could be collected based on a large number of sensor nodes and sent to control center through communication network. The results show that WSN can realize real-time monitoring of gas concentration in coal preparation plants and provide early warning on site when it reaches certain value, which could ensure efficient response after alarm, so as to provide support for gas monitoring and avoid serious accidents. The low-power clustering and hierarchical routing protocol can prolong effective life cycle of the network and balance energy loss of each node.
